No you tune it on a dyno with the compatable windows software provided. Same with uberdata and ems. Now i do suggest a good street tune also because when tuning on a dyno you tune for wide open throttle. it is very important that you tune for part throttle because that is where your car will spend most of it's life.

not an air fuel ratio gauge, you need a wideband o2 sensor. Air fuel gauges are narrorbands and will not give u a good enough reading for proper tuning.

You can tune on a dyno at wide open throttle all day long and get everything perfect on the dyno but that will mean nothing in stop and go traffic, with higher and lower ambient air temps, and at part throttle. Not saying if you only dyno tune it will blow in normal driving but I am saying it will not run nearly as good as it should, may overheat, be bad on gas(who can afford that now days).
I allways street tuned before I hit the dyno.
You do need a lap top to tune it. And a program like hondata, crome, uberdata. I know a guy who builds custom turbo kits and just looks on the internet at other ecu's maps that are tuned for boost, uses that, then he makes minor adjustments here and there because every engine is going to be different. You can order a pre-chipped ecu but it's only good if you have a program to tune it with and someone with experience.
