crankshaft position wiring harness
I took my 96 civic LX to the local dealership for a check engine light and was told i needed a $400 crankshaft position wiring harness. The car runs fine, and when i went to Advanced Auto Parts, the guy said he's never heard of that happening and he ran a diagnostic test and told me it was probably a bad plug or wire. The test reported a DTC error P1337 and P1336. I think the wiring harness is inside the distributer. Is this something i should attempt to fix?

RE: crankshaft position wiring harness
thanks. This dealership has made some bogus suggestions before though. I went in for a tune-up a while back and was told i needed CV boots. I got a second opinion and found out they were fine. I only went back because emissions-related work is free at the dealership, and i was hoping it was that. I'd like to try replacing the plugs/wires before shelling out $400 somewhere. The guy at AAP said that's all i need. What do you think? Should I take apart the distributor and at least eyeball the wiring harness? Honda told me it was damaged by a belt.
