Default do I chip?

Ive been looking at getting my civic chipped so I called up A honda specialist Id heard good things about and they said I should send them my ECU and with the mods I had they would advance the timing and increase the rev limiter point to 8200rpm at a cost of £130 (about $200) which I thought was quite good.
My questions are am I right to do this? what does the process entail? will I notice the gains? and is it safe to have the redline rasied on A stock valvetrain?

You do not want a 8200rpm rev limiter on a stock z6 vottom end. On top of that any company that says they can tune a chip for you based on what mods you have alone is full of it. Save your time and money.

i think the only point in chipping would be for a built up motor or boost.

Raising the limiter to 8200 on stock valvetrain is not good, and useless. You can advance the timing your self by twisting the distributor all the way back towards the firewall, and then use premuim gas. Save that $200 for something else.
