Default ECU Question...

I've just gone and bought myself a complete Y8 for me to do my mini-me swap.

But i want an ECU for vtec and i also want to convert to OBD-I for tuning purposes.
i found a local guy who tunes with chrome. But i have an auto transmission.

Is their an OBD-I ECU that can control my vtec and my auto tranny, cuz i heard there is problems with that.
Is this true or am i just worrying too much.

Pretty sure a p06 is what you're looking for. Talk to your tuner

p06 is a non-VTEC OBD1 ECU, so that would work if you sent it to THIS WEBSITE CALLEAD PHEARABLE.NET. If you scroll down, you can see for $100 they can convert your ECU to VTEC.

One last thing is that if you look on ebay for for a p06 that works with an AT, you can get them for super cheap, then just sent it to Phearable. The AT ECU's aren't as sought after as the MT, so people are letting them go for cheap. Search "p06 AT" on ebay and you'll see.

previous owner spun a rod bearing in it. I'm gonna take the whole thing apart in the next couple of days or weeks and see how extensive the damage is. If i can get it working with just a simple rebuild and maybe a good honing i might go that route. the engine has less kms than my Y7, but we'll have to see what is most feasible in the next couple of days. I'll post pics in another thread once the dismantling begins. Thanks for the help.

BUMP

I am doing similar. I have found a complete head for the mini me swap. What ECU do I need? The head I can get comes with the OBD1 harness, is there an OBD2 computerI should acquire instead or should I stick with the OBD1. Also if I switch to OBD1 will my car pass emissions? Here's a link to the head. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=130231082031 Hopefully I can get this, thought it was decent deal. Any info will be reassuring.
Thank you.
