Default flickering headlights

i hope this is going to be in the right section of the forum....

as i was driving along tonight on the highway, i kept thinking i was seeing my headlights flicker occasionally. and it kept happening, so now i'm wondering what is going on. i had the a/c and the stock stereo on. and the lights would flicker when i was just driving, not slowing down, not accelerating, not braking, putting in the clutch...just driving along. has this happened to anyone else? anyone have any ideas as to what it is and is it serious?

This could be a mechanical problem, try to see if your headlights aren't moving...even a slight amount of movement would make it look like they're flickering. Other than that, can't think of anything else

Check the headlights to see if they are physically loose, and also check the plug at the back of the headlights going to the bulb and make sure that it's pushed in as far as it can go and hasn't started coming out (making a bad connection).

If that doesn't solve it, I'd say your battery is weak, in which case it could either be a bad battery (not holding the charge), or a bad alternator (not charging the battery). You can usually take your car in and get the charging system tested, and one more thing it could be is the voltage regulator.

Hope you make out okay and find the problem.

thanks for the tips, guys. i'll check the lights today and make sure they are secure. i just kinda feel like an idiot when it comes to electrical things on cars. [8D]

how hard is it to replace an alternator, if that's what the problem is?

Are any other lights flickering? interior lights maybe?

I hope this doesn't have anything to do with you taking apart your headlights a couple months ago! [&:]

no, none of the gauges were flickering or anything. i'm kinda wondering if it has to do with the whole headlight removal, too. i plan to check it soon, but for now i'm going to lay down because i think i'm getting the damn flu (i hate working in a medical office).
