Just wondering whats it purpose. What does it do or help prevent.

well they reduce electrical "noise" and voltage spikes.
supposively helpi have one and like it, i've felt a difference)
Improve Horse power and torque
Improve Fuel Economy
Smooth idling with improve engine response
Improve all electrical component performance
Improve battery life

most gains would probably be from t/sc'd cars

They make your electrical system run more efficiently. I put one on last week and definitely noticed that thespeakers sound a lot clearer, along with my amp and subs. I also have a smoother idle.

As far as HP and TQ, it probably won't be noticeable, unless you have really bad engine grounds, or a civic with already high HP and TQ.

EDIT: Not to mention, those blue wires I have look sweet.

Well for me the wires that ground the car are shot. Imagine you mouse(not usb) for you pc. That wire connecting to the cpu... thats what my ground wires look like. I have been have ecu/ecm problems for awhile. But 3 days ago it sparked and well...yea. It also cause my distributor to fail and burn out according to my mech. So now i need a new ecu and distributor. But first i have to get better ground wires.

So what i am really gettin at is how do you ground your car?

if its stock with very little or no extra electrical equipment than stock ground wires will work just fine.....

IMO those cheap ebay ground kits are just ugly if ya ask me....

if anything just upgrade the ground wires to a larger size. thats all i did on my 99civic with my large amplifiers and other toys... and i havent had any problems.....

and just because your MECH tells you what he thinks he doesnt know.... all he knows is they just stoped working or maybe shorted out.

Yea, I think those eBay battery terminal things with the huge thing for attaching wiresare ugly. I bought mine on eBay and took the ugly thing off the new terminal, and just attached the battery body ground and a distributor ground I added to it. Then I took the rest of the eBay wires and used them to replace the old ground wires the way they were hooked up before. I also added one from the alternator to the body. Looks a lot better than that huge ugly thing that was attached to the terminal.

so i just get the wires and replace the old with the new? The engine was swaped in by some idiot so i am not sure if everything is grounded and i am not the most mech inclined(sp) but i am willing to learn. I want to make sure that everything is grounded first and i can only hope that there is not a short in the wire harness. It there like a grounding guide or some one can give any input/advice on how i proceed with the operation.

O and its a 2000 Si.

Just replace the old wires with new ones. Between 8 guageand 4 guage wire should be good. You can get colored wire if you want to dress up the engine bay a little with it.

Hmm. I'm not sure where exactly on the parts the grounds are for your civic but it should be pretty much the same.
The head should be grounded - on my civic it's grounded from the valve cover to the frame by the driver headlight. The tranny should be grounded to the body. Your battery should be grounded to the body. On my civic that ground is right next to the battery. Then I made my own grounds for the distributor and alternator. I connected one end of the wire to a bolt holding the distributor to the head, and ran the other end to the battery's negative terminal. Then I ran a ground from a bolt on the alternator to the body by the brake booster reservoir. Now that I realize it, you can also ground the intake manifold, which I completely forgot to do. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

and if you can top up few more bucks.. get the voltage stabilizer like PIVOT raizin .. pairing it with you ground wires and you will see improvement on you electricityflow..

i realy dont see those doing any good..... IMO

just upgrade the stock ground wires and you should be fine...

for stock thiers 3 ground wires....
one from battery about 5inches forwards that bolts to the body around the strut tower.....
one that goes from the front passenger kinda frame rail on the side that is about a foot that runs ontop of the transmision.
and the last ground goes from the front drivers side on the power steering bracket that runs to the front of the radiator support.

easiest thing to do is get some 4gauge amplifier wire. and some 4gauge ring terminals PREFERABLY SOLDERED TERMINALS...... just for a beter current flow! crimped connections are OK but just not as good as soldered joints.
