Default Ground wires

My ground wires look pretty corroded, I want to put in new ones for both battery and engine. Is there a specific material or thickness that I should buy at the hardware store? would I be saving much money making them myself?

You can clean then with a wire brush also. Clean the parts that contact each other. Make them look shinny and new. Be sure to apply some dielerictric grease between the 2 connectors before you bolt them back together to keep them from corroding again.

just go get some 4 gauge copper wire and make some new ones. and make a new transmission ground and upgrade your alternator power wire at the same time

just go get some amplifier power wire from any car audio store. Custom shops will probably be a better source because a lot of them will sell it by the foot.

and get some of these for the ends.

just get a wash rag and plase it under the wire and dump the coke on the wire so itll go on the wire and drip on the rag.. no mess!

You can clean it with coke, or just buy new wire. Really it's up to you.

If you go the new wire route, go here:

If there is a car audio store in my town I cant find it. I tried lowes, autozone, and walmart to no avail so I just bought a grounding kit instead.

However, the rubber boot on the +alternator terminal wont fit snug over my new wire, is there any reason I cant leave it off?
