map sensor
Hi,i just bought a 1999 honda civic se.The car works good but had an engine light on.I took it to the shop to see what the problem was and they said the map sensor plug was not plugged in.They plugged it in and the light went off but now the engine's rev's are surging.I'm tempted to unplug the map sensor and live with the engine light.I did notice before the the map sensor was plugged in that there was slight hesitation at the lower part of the rev's and i think it was using a bit more fuel than it should have been.If i buy a new map sensor,is it simple to install?Do you think it will fix the rev surging, fuel consumption, stumbling on the lower rev's?Thanks for any help.

Check to make sure it is sealed up. I had a very small coolant leak right where that hose connects to the front of it, and once I fixed that my surging went away. Any extra air coming in will cause the idle to surge.
