Default map sensor question

well i have a 91 hatch dx. stock 1.5 just had the new motor installed one month ago. now its smoking pretty bad. after it runs a while the white smoke goes awaythen just puffs a bit of black smoke. exhaust also smells bad. the shop said its not the motor its the map sensor.

so i guess what im asking is, is this a common problem in older hondas? thanks for reading my post

I'm not sure how that could be attributed to the map sensor...

thats kind of what i was thinking. i have a warranty on the motor. and since the purchase have had two replacement motors under the warranty. then i was told by everyone they would not recomend the shop i used.

White smoke = coolant
Black smoke = fuel (running rich)
Blue smoke = oil

The black smoke could be caused by a faulty MAP sensor. Is the LED on the ECU under the front passenger carpet blinking a trouble code?

The biggest concern is the white smoke, which may indicate a blown head gasket.

Check the compression and see if all the readings are the same.

Compression numbers aren't going to be the same, not even on a new motor. Difference between cylinders can be about 20% of each other. Bad compression isn't going to cause it to run rich either (the black smoke).

That's great. Was the ECU LED blinking a MAP sensor code or other trouble codes?

yea the shop told me the ECU was blinking map sensor codes. now i need to take the car back to the shop to get the blue smoke problem fixed. weather they fix or replace the motor is up to them. i still have at least 4 month left on the warranty. so i will keep you all posted
