Quick reply to Warern.

When I fill my tank I go till it clicks. At that point it's just FULL. I have started it before again and it clicks off immediataly. It's not that i am only putting 10 or so gallons in, it's also that the guage has such a leaway at the end, there is still 3 gallons in there I didn't use. But I know now I can go a loooong time even when the guage has no bars. Handy buffer if I need it, but I still fill it around the time all the bars go out.

weird. my brand new 2-door EX got about 33 MPG (everything rounded to the worst case) with the AC on an somewhat of a lead foot (somewhat because it's still being broken in) on the first tank of gas.

i should note that it's a manual.

well i am getting around 32 mpg on so on the gallon and i would estimate about 41 highway. 80 % of my driving is done in the city since my work is close to my home and places where i head to. i usually get around 320 on a full tank with me only going on the highway once a week for my dads house. when i first got my 07 lx i was worried for the first couple of weeks that it wasnt working out but once i broke it in, it was just fine.

if i were u i really wouldnt worry about it, its going to give u some great mileage and just depending on if u like to step on it occasionally. it might take some of that away.

Once you get about 2500 miles on the car you should get much better MPG. It takes a while.

I am a new Civic owner of about three month and have just over 5000 miles on my car and I am only averaging about 25 mpg. I have taken it to the dealer a couple of time and they tell me there is nothing wrong. I have tried everything to get better mileage. One whole tank I never let the tach go over 2500 rpm in any gear. (It's an auto) still the mileage was only 25.8. I have to say that this is combined city and hwy. driving. Any help would be appreciated.

--- use quality gasoline, I pay for brand name and use 89 octane or greater(I am fortunate to live in SW VA., gas is comparitively more affordable), you will get better mileage as the engine breaks in, if you have a 13gallon tank it will be near empty after 350 miles--- personally I only monitor MPG and average 30 for combined city/highway(I have a new SRI so I'm hoping for 32 now), also keep the tank full, I try not to let mine go below 1/4

an update:

on my last 2 refuelings, i've gotten exactly 29.87 miles to the gallon, both times. all stop and go city driving, with a lead foot and the a/c on. needless to say, getting 30mpgon an engine with less than 1k mileson it driving were i do is fantastic.

i should also note that the first mileage post i made had a god chunk of highway driving.

i also got a '07 EX but it's a manual and a coupe. being that it's my first stick, and a little too excited about the car, i tend to floor it alot. but one thing i do know, "topping off" your car isn't very good for your MPG or for your car in general. when the gas heats up it expands just like everything else, but i think if there's too much fuel in the fuel tank it would just waste a lot of it right? because there wouldn't beanywhere to releave all that pressureexcept through the fuel injectors orwhenever you open your gas tank.

i've noticed in my older car that was an automatic, when i top it off, i tend to fill it up sooner than when i don't. and i also notice that my miles per gallon would be different. although, sometimes there can be problems at the gas station itself that causes it to stop. for example, at my previous work, there was a certain pump that would always click off. i'm not sure if all gas stations in all states/countries are the same, but the ones we had at our gas station had a vapor cover (so the vapor from the gas would go somewhere else other than in the air) and sensors within that to know when your car is ful or if there's gas inside the vapor cover. and sometimes when you top off and don't pay attention, all that you're doing is paying for gas that stays in that cover.

i usually fill up when it gets down to 1/8th. because gas is a little cheaper where i live than where i work/go to school.

oh also, the higher the octane the more cleaning solution of there would be, and i don't recommend using it all the time.
