Hey man, you have OBD2. Also, what he says is true, but only if you do it right. You cant go out there and buy some $35 chip that claims huge gains and not potentially really screw up your motor. The only way to do it is have you ECU professionally chipped and flashed. But on that note, if you have no performance products on your car, then the flash will not help you. So, do you have anything done?

only way i can see that happening is if you get a prgramable ecu. but from experience with just getting it chipped...no.

I have an AEM SRI and a Kyo Cat-back exhaust.

What would you guys recommend I do to gain some HP on a 98 civic EX in regards to an ECU.

Thanks

*I THINK* he could run AEM EMS on OBD II but i am not sure. EMS is pretty expensive. Since you don't have that many mods, i don't think that any type of ECU mod will really help or be worth it. I would look into other stuff before doing ECU.

you can get skunk2 chipped obd1 ecu's on ebay for about $170...
they'll add up to 20hp if you're lucky.

of course you'll need a $75 obd2 to obd1 converter thing too. but that's all everything would cost you.
