If you even understood how an engine worked, you would realize why this is such a dumb idea....
Yeah thats the way i see it too... i believe my engine is 5500 Rpms so i have never gotten over that

That m4d jdm vtak y0! d16z6 in your engine bay stops making power at 6800rpm. Revving it past the rev-limit of 7200rpm with stock internals will annihilate your head, and I don't see it doing kind things to your crank, either.

Besides, you want to know a secret? Shifting at peak power puts you in the perfect position on the power band in the next gear to keep accelerating. It's faster to shift at the exact rpm where you make peak hp than it is to wrap out each gear all the way to the limiter.

And if you ignore all the sound advice in this thread and change your limiter without good reason (a cam that actually makes power above the stock rev-limit, fully built head/valvetrain, freshly balanced crank, etc), I hope you blow your engine.

lol, I accidentally took my Z6 to nearly 8500RPM once. Runs just fine... I will never let that happen again though.

But yea, everyone who answered... he has a Z6! It's not suppose to hit the rev limiter at 6000 RPM. Rev limiter isn't until like 7350. There's obviously something wrong.

Is your CEL on?

What ECU do you have? 5500 is wayyyyyy too low.

whoops, didn't even see that when I skimmed the thread. Yeah, rev-limit should be ~7200 (at least it was on mine).

Hmm, that's strange. Something is definitely wrong, and removing the rev limiter in the ECU won't help because it's suppose to let you rev to ~7350 in the first place. I'm not really sure what the problem could be if you don't have a CEL... I've only heard of this kind of thing happening when there's a CEL on.

Do you have your stock ecu in the car? Only way I would see it changing is if you put a different ECU in the car.
