I was planning on doing a mini me swap so that i can have the power of the vtec. But is there any other mods or chips that can make up for the performance lack of a non-vtec

My girlfriends dad work in a shop where they do mini me conversions and he says that he doesn't reccomend it. Not to offend anyone who has done it but he says it is a bunch of crap. He thinks the only good vtec is the ones that come on them already.

I Disagree. If the mini me conversion didnt do anything then no one would do it. (esp a shop). Vtec is proven to give horsepower gains.....so adding it to a car is only goin to help (If done correctly)

Well you can't deny the hp gains but he said for reliability and overall performance on original vtec engine is way better. I don't know what i think for I am not that learned yet just passing on a message.

i,m gathering all this info up, and storing it in my mental rolodex, and hopefully when the time comes , in a month or less, i'll get the right motor for my '88 hatch.

the only reason that i could see that a mini-me swap would be bad, is because, obviously, non vtec blocks arnt made for vtec. So when u do the swap the vtec cams dont get the oil they need and after awhile, become kinda undependable and some problems will probally occur. if it were me, id probally just do a complete swap, just to avoid some problems in the long run
