VX question:
I searched this but couldnt find the info i'm looking for,so heres my question:
I have a totally stock 95 VX andi understand it to be tuned for "lean burn" to increase fuel economy. The thing is, ithasnoticablymore power when the motor is cold (fuel mixture rich?).
So i'm wondering if there is a simple way to make the mixture richer in general when the motor is up to temperature? or is this a mistake? I realize that this will probably decrease my mpg but i would gladly trade it for a little extra power.
I dont plan tomodify my motor beyond a new exhaust and intake so i'm looking for a solution that wont ruin my motor.
thanks! and sorry if this has been covered before.

i was looking for a stock 92-95 hb (getting more difficult these days) and this is the one that was available for my price range.
now that thats out of the way, do you have any useful knowledge? thanks.

People usually get VX for their mileage and don't care about power, that's why I asked, no offence intended.
As for your question, I'm afraid this behavior is by design and your are stuck with what you bought unless you want to take more serious measures like mini-me swap. But, there could be people here who has an experience with D15Z1 (I believe this is your engine), so wait for other people to response, I might be wrong.

I thought they were also desirable by tuners because of their lighter weight.(?) But i'm new to this so i may be wrong. And the gas mileage is pretty cool to be honest.
Anyway- It seems like maybe an ecu mod might be the answer but i'm not sure how or if i should go about it.

A leaner mixture will actually make more power. And what your experiencing with the cold motor is lower IATs (intake air temperatures) from cold engine components. Cold air is more dense than hot air which creates that extra power (until the components warm up). Don't hot rod it too much on a cold engine though, as the motor oil will not be able to do it's job as effectively prior to warm up and damage may result.
okay, thanks for the advice.
although i think its probably fine the way it is, it'd be nice to have a little more juice. maybe i'll just get a performance air filter and call it good.
which leads me to another question- would ineed to reset my ecu if i change to a different intake or change the filter?or is that something that should be done periodically anyway? if so why?
sorry if these aredumb questions but i'm new to this. thanks

Being a previous D15Z1 owner myself I gotta tell ya, the gas mileage (especially these days) is to die for! (wow that sounded gay as hell)
My VX was turbo'd when I bought it, unfortunatley the crack that did the install was a novice and everything was messed up from the start.
As far as adding a little more power...
Well before I swapped motors in my hatch, I yanked the turbo and put full exhaust (header, cat/catback) and a cold air intake setup, removed the FMU, and the "missing link" and drove it...surprisingly it had a nice little amount of power, of course weighing just over 2000 lbs helps out alot as well, but it definetly had more pep. I guess my "butt dyno" is not something you would want to base your mods off of, but figured I would tell ya what I did with mine before I swapped.
