To make a long story short, we are going to install a 92 1.5L civic engine into a 90 civic which currently has a 1.5L engine with manual transmission. (Son's car, nothing special, but we just want to keep it going though college.) It looks like a no brainer using the current intake and exhaust manifolds, mounts and wiring, but I noted that the clutch assemblies (90 and 92), uses different part numbers. Will I need to put the flywheel of the 90 engine on the 92 engine, or will the 92 clutch assembly fit the 90 transmission and clutch linkage? Also, are there any other minor things to know about? As you can tell, we are not seasoned Honda tuners, but are up for the challenge.

just use the 92 head and block, everything else put on it from the 90. everything will bolt up and work great. the motor you are taking out is a d15b2 and the new motor you are putting in is the d15b7. they are pretty much the same motor,

 

Thanks for the feed back. I have the complete 92 engine (block and head) with flywheel. I will swap the flywheels and should be good to go. Thanks again.

 

the flywheels are the same, use the clutch that goes with the tranny you are using. the 92 is a hydraulic tranny, and the 90 is cable. the only wiring you should have to do is the fan switch.the 90 civic switch is located on the back of the block, and the 92 civic switch is located in the thermostat housing. you would have to lengthen the wires and add the 92 civic plug.
