Dont forget about all the screwing around changing from dpfi to mpfi. It could easily run you way more than that if you have to pay someone to change the wiring up for you if you can't do it yourself. Make sure you consider all the expenses and not just how much the motor is. It's easy to find a motor but not always easy to get it to work.

try a d16z6, it will bolt in, has vtec, and pretty good parts selection, can find cheap. or just do a head swap. i would suggest to convert to obd 1 with a conversion harness from www.boomslang.us. you can get a obd0 dpfi to obd1 mpfi harness with three sub harnesses built in so you don't have to repin the ecu plugs. the wiring took me and my friend about 2 hours to do a little longer if you want to loom all the wires and make it look pretty. it started right up first try, the only problem i have is i need to clock my tps sensor.
