RE: H22a swap into a 92-95 civic
Well, long story short, it's a bitch. I'll give you an abridged version. You have to physically change the shape of a couple crossmembers in order to accomodate the oil pan/tranny (since the H engines lean the other way). It's significantly heavier than your stock D-series (probably 100 lbs or more), so it'll change the handling dynamics of your car. Also, sometimes you can't turn the steering lock to lock after doing the swap. You need the engine, tranny, harness, ECU, axles, new shift linkage, mount kit, and a couple other things that I'm sure I'm forgetting, and most of it ain't cheap. It'll make your car pretty f**kin' quick though.

. . . ahem
VTECH!
no really thanx for posting i can imagine wht woiuld be interfering with the steering though!
of course thoug by the time i get all the parts for the swap i could have just bolted in a B18C and forgot about it!
did honda ever make a diesel engine we could swap in?

Yeah, you some different kind of axles. Cant remeber which though. do some searching online. If you use the wrong ones when you stop and turn and then go again the axle will pop out.

the axel needed is out of an old accord 88 model i have been told to put the H22a into the civic.
also if you wish to keep your power steering and air con - forget about it.
my mate got it done and there is alot of work to be done, his car is quick but no where near the handelling as a b series engine

what ever negative opinions you hear from the h22 swap in a civic are not true it is more work but it is worth it. you will be doing 13s in daily driven car, because it is a daily driver.what ever these other guys had told you is not true because they have never done this swap. i have read some stupid coments froms other people that have not done the swap and they think they know but they dont know whats up.I have a hatch with h22 and it moves. if u have any type of questions e-mail me back.
