I've been interested in doing this swap to my 1995 DX 1.5. Just recently my friend gave me his 96 civic ex with the 1.6 sohc vtec because he bought a new car seeing as how the block went out in his civic. My question is, will it be possible to do this swap even though the two years have the obd1/obd2 gap and possibly two completely different heads?

 

yes it is still possible, actually thats the kind of mini me i'm going to be doing. putting a d16y8 v-tec head onto my d15b7 block. i think the only difference is something with the dizzy(distributor). just be sure when you get the v-tec ecu its a P-28

or you can switch it all to an obd2 and run a p2p ecu i believe.

d16z6 v-tec head= 92-95 civic
d16y8 v-tec head=96-98, 99-00

most D series parts are interchangeable
