Long block (as opposed to short block) is just the name of specific set of engine spare parts. If I'm not mistaken, short block includes only block itself, when long block includes everything assembled except for head and external equipment.

longblock means everything w/ the motor except transmission.

a b16 long block will fit in your EG chassis, but you will need to get a b-series transmission, from a 94-01 integra. you're better off buying a complete swap

well if you read the definition correctly yourself you would see that a long block includes the cylinder head

Absolutely. I did not remember this in full detail when replying, and did not find the link, so i put there "If I am not mistaken". Means: I'm not sure in the answer, this is the best I can try now. And I think, it was enough to answer the original question, if you read it. My answer states that regardless of being short or long block, this is absolutely the same b16avtec engine, just with more or less parts bolted to it

Don't mean to thread hack and I may have missed this reading through but would a long block engine such as the F20B 97-98 fit into a1991 honda civic?

check the thread date, and also, the term "longblock" has nothing to do with the length of the block. it merely means that it is a complete engine. a shortblock is the block and rotating assembly only. longblock includes the head. an f20b if im not mistaken(lol), is a destroked h22. you will need the proper mounts, axles, trans, and ecu/wiring, but it will fit into an ef. i assume you have stumbled across a bluetop somewhere?
