DX engine Block has hole in it, What can I replace the engine with?
So last night my car's engine Blew up. It has a Hole and its cracked on the front of the block near the manifold. It poured Coolant out everywhere Black smoke the whole shebang. Now I have to find a more powerful engine but keep it cheap to, or I can keep it stock but thats no fun right? Dual Cam 1.8 L engines? are they available for the 1999 DX model? Can I put a B16- B18, or SR20 in place of my old one? The old one was complete stock non Vtec. Not looking to spend more than 1200$ and I will go look at the Junk Yard.
If there is a sticky link Thread on this Already let me know Thanks and I'm in a rush to get information cause otherwise I'm out of a car and I leave for college soon!

for 1200buck i dont think you are gonna get a complete DOHC 1.8 swap
my suggest if you want a little more power just get a d16y8 and a ecu and wire up vtec
if you can get a motor cheap enough get some work done to it? maybe

A b16 or b18 full swap for $1200? You'd be lucky to get away with that. You'd also be lucky to find an undamaged, worth-while b16 or b18 in a junk yard. I have no idea what a sr20 is (guessing nissan??).
At the least, you'll need an ecu, longblock, trans, engine mounts made for you car to fit the b series, axles, shift linkage... I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of anything else. If you are luck enough to find a B16 or b18 motor, you should be able to get all of what I just mentioned except for the mounts.
You might want to start off by researching a couple swaps and what it all entails.

You could probably do an LS swap for $1200, if you shop around. Otherwise, your best bet is to just get a D16Y8. Needs the complete engine, the engine harness, and a P2P ECU and I believe that is everything. Oh yea, you'll have to wire VTEC from the ECU to the shock tower engine harness plug.
ya if you get a Y8 motor for a simple swap and you only need the motor buy the motor, wire harness and computer and then its a simple swap all plug and play!
you dont need the wire harness but its easier if you have the Y8 engine harness still on the new motor

And oh yeah Cv the SR20 is a Nissan Engine its for 240's G20's and 300z's usually but I saw one in a honda once so thought i would add it in there. Oh well they are to pricy anyway so those and K20 and K24 are way out of the Question.
Ok so I have been Looking around and There are No d16y8 engines on ebay or near my area atm at least so far but i did see this

Now would it be less cost for a d16y8 swap or a b16 swap for my blown motor? The b16 also seems to have more hp which maybe i have wrong idk but it seems better

Wayyyyyyyyyy less money for a Y8. IMO a B16 swap isn't even worth the money you pay for it. The Y8 and Z6 have just as much torque as a B16, the B16 just has a little more HP. If you want to do a non D-series swap then IMO you should either go B18, K20, or H22. B16's are overrated and are not worth the money you pay. It would cost less (not to mention be easier) to just sell the car (after replacing the block with another D16Y7) and buy a 99-00 Si with a B16 already in it or another Civic that already has an engine swap.
