Default need 2 engines. new 2 forum. need advice.

Hello,

I just registered and am trying to track down some information for my brother-in-law. He has (2) honda civics that he needs engines for. He has a '96 EX coupe and a '98 EX coupe. both have blown engines. He would rather have a JDM. He doesnt want to fork out the cash for a new one from one of the local auto parts chains. What does everyone here recommend. I know he wants something that will be a clean swap, without alot of additional work and changing additional parts around. From what little research I've done it looks like you can swap them out with JDM engines without any changes. Is this true? If so, I guess what I'm really looking to gain from this post is a list of the most recommended suppliers for these engines, what type of warranties I should expect and what engine I should be looking for when contacting them, and what price range I should expect. Both cars are manual trans. Thanks in advance for all of the help, advice, opinions, etc. I look forward to being able to find him a couple of quality reliable engines from research on this site. Thanks again.

Any civic/integra engine from 92 to 00 will work, the ones from 92-95 will need a obd conversion harness and a obd1 ECU. The integra engines will also need a B series tranny, integra axels, and a new rear motor mount

I dont think there is a JDM B16A2......I think its just a B16A

Actually I think it might be that JDM motors are only like a B18C or a B16A and no numbers on the end.
