Default 1996 civic ex vtec d16y8 oil weight?

okay so the guy i bought the car from origianlly ran only royal purple full synthetic. But I dont have that money, so im gonna run mobil 1 full synthetic oil instead. But the problem is the guy i bought it from said, and i quote "its not my car anymore" when i asked him what weight he had to run in it. So im not getting any help there.

first off kick that guy in the nuts, second off run like a 30 to 40 weight in thesummer and a 20 to 30 weight in the winter. 30 weight is a good all year weight of oil

so 5w30? sorry its just ill be spending alot of money on oil and dont want to make a newbie mistake on the weight you know. I came from a pickup and diesel truck before this so i just want to be sure.

oil weight really depends on the climate where you live.
Also, there is really no used to be running synthetic oil on your car unless your are running some force induction. You will be fine running the regular non-synthetic oil.
