This car has the 127hp engine and a/t. Rod went through block so we are replacing with a used unit. Will probably look for another tranny at the same time although still an auto. I guess I have to use another 127hp engine to be compatible with the engine electricals. What years are the same and does it have to be an a/t engine? thks

you don't H A V E to use a 127hp engine. Sounds like perfect time to drop a B16, or B18 in there. Or, you could reach for the sky and go K series. Lots of options man!

No it doesnt have to also be an auto. Keep in mind if you want the car to still smog (I dont know if you need it to but if you ever sell it ther buyer may car) the engine you put in has to be of the same year or newer. So in your case a 99 or a 2000. But anything from a 96-00 will be the same
