200hp d series

Hey guys my goal for my motor is 200 wheel hp and what am i going to have to do to do it and i wan't to keep it naturaly asperated and engine life is an issue. Or what will it take to get my civic in to the high 14 second range

RE: 200hp d series

A million dollars.

Seriously though, 200Hp on a N/A D is gonna be, umm... tough. I don't think you could do it without spending more than you would for a swap and getting it to 200. But I know you want to rock the D.

High 14's you could do though. Z6forilla is running 14.6 and he is N/A. Read his D vs B thread.

RE: 200hp d series

ok then what kind of swap could i get and i just don't want to tare in to my bottom end

Pete 09-08-2005 11:49 PM

RE: 200hp d series

Dont wanna tear into bottom end? Ok easy. ARP Headstuds and a thicker Headgasket to lower compression. Turbo @ 8PSI.......ull be in the 13's for the quarter mile. Car will be fine.

Now that's really helping brokenarmboy out......and I thought brokenarmboy said something like

Ok, if you are really serious about it- what kind of budget are we working with?

We can get you into the 14's with no bottom end.

I can get you into 14's with all stock honda d series parts and stay N/A while being daily driven

lol yea i read the quote. If u do what i just said youd be in the 13s........and run 6PSI on the street. U will not have any reliabilty issues.. He seems as if he doesnt wanna boost cuz he thinks it just KILLS ur motor.........i was simply saying that boost isnt all that bad of an idea.

RE: 200hp d series

actually, once you get to the point that to make your power goal NA, that you have to raise the redline, it hurts reliability a lot. even more than properly set up FI. the extra stress on the rods from spinning faster is a lot more destructive than the extra compression force placed on them by FI.

see the problem is its gunna be real tough to get into the 14s with out an engine swap, bottom end, and N/A.

No I said with all stock oe honda parts

RE: 200hp d series

D16Z6 block
D16A6 Head
Forged or stock JDM ZC pistons
D16A6 head gasket

With stock OE Z6 deck height will pan out to 12 to 1 compression(Actually it is 11.98 to 1 compression but you know what I mean) . Add ITB's and tunning and you will eat 14's. You would have to run 93+ octane gas on the street but tunned correctly it will yeild what you are looking for. BTW anytime you build a motor to make more power there are allways accociated risk that you have to ready yourself for

ive never seen those on a civic personally, but ive seen a few setups like that online, and they always look pretty janky. i just dont think i would trust my DD with them.

and i have decided to buy a honda product that comes from the factory pulling 10 seconds

are we talking a d series in a hatch or a coupe/4door????? This would affect your 1/4 mile times quite a bit regardless of power. If you had a hatchie you could do it alot easier than a coupe/4door.

i hope you're talking n/a......any built d-series can run 14s...what i try to show people is why spend 3000 on an engine when you can build a whole d-series on that budget....I have two reasons to go b-series tho....If you have the money and you are looking for 200+ hp n/a.....but if you don't have both of those it's silly to go b-series....some people will be perfectly happy with a 170hp built d-series. my .02
