93 Civic engine swap
Hello. My friend's 93 Civic DX engine is gone. The engine is POORING coolant through the tail pipe. I will swap his engine since a rebuilt is just not worth it. I never worked on a civic before so I have some question about V-TEC engines. His car is originally non V-TEC. I found the D15B engine for only $50 more than his original engine so we are considering installing that one. From what I read this engine is a direct bolt-on to his car. Is that correct?
How is the V-TEC controlled? The engine comes with the V-TEC Solenoid. What controls this solenoid? Is it done internally or through the ECM? Will he need a different ECM?
