all motor which engine?
hey guys im going to do an all motor building because i will have this car has a daily driver and i dont want to have to worry about blowing my motor with a turbo or oil leaks and i know if you tune it right keep the psi down you should be fine but i want to have the all motor no turbo lag etc im looking to get 190-210HP so what engine you guys think would work oh i drive a 96 civic hatch

H22a because there's more information on the swap (there's literally hundreds of people with an h22 in their eg/ek on honda-tech) and they already make 200hp at the crank (and 160 ft/lbs of torque) from the factory. Not to mention you can use the stock transmission, so you can just buy a full swap from HMO, Password, etc. and throw it in your car. The downside is you need swap axles and swap mounts.

Mounts range from about $380 (Innovative) to $450 (Hasport), and axles are around $400 (Innovative).
And for the B20, any b-series transmission should bolt up. I just don't like the idea of trying to piece together something as big as a swap... there's just so many little things you'd have to get.

H22A is great for N/A but dont plan on boosting ever. Also, there are some things you need to get just perfect like shifter cable placemant and axles or you will have big issues shifting at high rpm and the axles will rub. Im not saying this to scare you but I have talked to a few local people with H22 swaps and none of them are happy with their transmission, always a shifting problem somewhere in the high RPMs. There is such a thing called H2B where you can use a B16 transmission.
Other then that its a great engine and it hops off the line like no other untill you go up against a D16Z6 on 10 psi and the guy leaves you behind. : )

hmm well what about something simple like a b18c (not type r) or b16a not boosted but for N/A can i get 200hp outta that i dont mind having to get pistons rods cams etc and what tranny would be good for one of those b series

Well the best trans for you would be a B16 trans as it is VERY short geard. But I dont want to turn you away from the H22, its a great motor and with simple bolt ons can make more power then a fully built B18C or B16 and put down much more torque. And the H is cheaper then even a B16. Your from Calgary so I say check out tigerjapanese.com for the swap, the shipping on an entire engine is only $132 and thats with liftgate to your house. I say go H22 just make sure you do some research or look into buying a H2B adapter plate and using a B16 trans. I have talked to quarter sports about their H2B set up and its only $750, about the same that you whould spend on rods/pistons/cams on a b16
