a friend of mine told me i shoudl get a b16 head from an SI... will it have any big differences/is it worth it? what else would i need to change if i can. i kno it can be done on other engines. friend with a gsr put a b20 head on his car... thats different displacement. and my would be the same but ide be going from a sohc to a dohc... any thoughts?

 

its not displacment but more volume in the cylinder

d series and b series engines are not intechangable. a d head will work with another d block, smae for a b series. what engine do you have?

 

i have a d16y8... i was lookin around and found a d16y5 and that has "v-tecE" (enhanced performance?). whats the differnce in that? and i was lookin through a haynes manual and it says that the d16y8 is in 3 and 4 doors. i have a ex coupe... any comments?

 

the y8 is not a bad motor, why did your freind tell you that you needed a different head? just get it breathing better... unless your ready to start the endless spending cycle... bottom line..power cost $. y=p>$.. how fast you wanna go?

 

he just said it becuase i guess he thought it would get alot more power and breath alot better but its whatever... how fast? im not lookin to drag or race or anything... but it would be cool to get at least 175 hp

 

for that you need , either turbo, juice, alot of internal work, or a swap... and dont forget the $$$$$$$$$i dont think with a sohc nonner your going to get 175 with a simple h/e/i upgrade...
