b16 swap

hi. i own a 98 civic ex coupe, its all stock im want to increase hp on my car i was thinking of doing a b16 swap from a civic siinto my car.if i buy a b16 would i need to buy anything other than the motor and trans?if i hookeverything i need to do will i get 160 hp? or will i need to tune it?also how much would it cost for all the part i need. i want aauto tranny also.

Double check me on this, but I don't think that the axles match between any B series and D series engine. If that's the case, then you'd need axles too (and probably a hub to match those axles). You should be able to find an auto tranny out there (unless all b16's were made with manual ones, which I doubt). You'll almost certainly need the ECU for the right engine, I haven't heard of the ECUs matching up between different letter series engines...

Depending on which B16 you get, you'll get 150-180 hp at the crank. When I want to check engine specs for Honda engines, I go to wikipedia, so if someone else on here says those numbers aren't accurate, you should trust that person. I'm just going off wikipedia here

THIS basically sums up the whole swap, with the exception of the auto trans. There was not an automatic transmission available in a B16 in the united states.

some are cable and some are hydrolic

I don't know what you would do about an ECU, you would need something for an auto trans AND vtec, maybe a civic ex ECU would work

so everything should bolt right up? all i need to buy for the swap is the motor tranny and axles?
