Default Broken Overflow Tank: this happen to you?

So I just bought a used 86 CRX Si. It was a pretty good buy for $800...salvage title, it looks like the front was damaged/warped in a collision, but you can't really tell except for a little bit of warpage in the area where the hood meets the front...fender?. New front shock dampeners (shocks), new injectors, new fuel rail, new valve guides, shaved valve head, new head gasket, new water pump/timing belt, and new half axles/CV joints all came installed in the car. Right now, it needs some more work though. The interior's missing carpet and there's torn upholstry. More importantly, though, it's sporadically leaking coolant.

I tried filling the overflow tank and water poured straight through the bottom. I checked with autozone and some websites first to see if they had this part. Nothing. I called a Honda dealership and they said the overflow tank is discontinued by Honda. What's more, the rep used a national parts locator to see if any dealerships in AMERICA had the part. Nothing. I'm going to have to patch this tank together (I haven't taken it off to look at it...so I'm really hoping it's cracked and not missing chunks of plastic). Has anyone else had to deal with a Honda dealership not having a part you need? I would've expected this if this car was a Renault or something...but not a Honda CRX.

dude...just hit up the junkyard....

if not i can pick you up one next time i go and mail it to you..there are tons of 1st gen crx's there. As for dealers not having older parts...it does suck..but its impractical to stock parts for a car 20+ years old.

let me know.

I'll try hitting up a junkyard within the next week. If no dice, then I'll gladly take you up on your offer. Thanks for the tip and the offer!

By the way, do you have any tips for finding junkyards? I'm just using google right now, but I was wondering if there's a site that rates/reviews these places. (or if there's something like that in HCF)

if you have any friends that work on cars they can probably dirrect you to the right place..or ask people that work at your local auto parts store.
