Default built b20 vtec

alright so basically ready to move on with y car and put something a little more bad in my car, so im getting ready to do a b20 vtec and i jsut had a few questions for those that i know on here know almost everything about these motors.

im getting a b20b block and sending it out to golden eagle to get it resleeved. im going to run 12.0 pistons and built internals and most likely the head on my gsr. the question i have is since i will have the block resleeved do you think it can hold like 8- 10 psi from a greddy bolt on or something even with the 12.0 pistons??

PSI is irrelevant, horse power is what you need to worry about. Ive heard of Golden Eagle HD sleeves holding up to 600HP, so just keep it in that area and youll be good to go. 12.0:1 is a real high compression ratio, especially with boost. The more compression you have, the harder it will be to tune. Also, boost makes more power than compression so why not lower your comp and raise your boost. This would make it easier to make more power, and easier to tune.

I always thought PSI was an important factor regarding the engine's compression ratio? Anyways 12.0:1 compression ratio will do fine. But might be safer at 6psi

I guessI wasnt very clear. When talkin about what the sleeves can handle PSI and compression are both irrelevant. The sleeves dont care rather you make 500HP with 9.0:1 compression and 20 pounds or you do it with 12.0:1 and 10 pounds, horsepower levels break sleeves not boost levels. Point standing, its gunna be an absolute bitch to tune a boosted car with 12.0:1. Why not lower the compression, make it easier to tune, run more boost, and make more power?

if you can find a tuner and some fuel that wont detonate you could run up to 25psi with a sleeved block

yea, if the block is built, it can handle a lot of power. PSI isnt totally irrelevant but there are other factors that play into it. You need to be aware of hp and IMO torque

Well if you are interest increasing in torque, then a supercharger would be a good idea. Maybe a Jackson supercharger? If not then turbo charger should be just fine
