Default Camshafts, I/M, Tune?

I have a B16A2 with a AEM CAI, Custom 2" exhaust. and dc ceramic4-1 header.
Ihave a 2000lbs (a bit of gutting done)1991 hatch. My current hp (maybe 170?)is pretty good with the car, but I was looking to make about 185hp.

I don't want go turbo (to muchwork for my goal), and not a N/A massive build either (to much money).

I was thinking Stage 2 cams (along with valvetrain rebuild), IM/TB maybe and diffenetlya good tune.

Would this setup reach my goal? Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

I was also thinking about getting a p&p done, I was reading that riceburner can do them.

it should with stage 2 cams, and yes he does do the p&p and from what he told me, it will net you maybe 5 hp, but you get better hp gains with stuff you add after that

Your exhuast would probabaly be a bit of a restriction...should have gone at least 2.25. Cams, valvetrain (probabaly needed with higher lift cams), IM will at least get you close. BTW, I have a hard time believing you have 170whp with those bolt ons...Unless you talking about bhp.

Its about 170Bhp... sorry if I wasn't clear. The exhaust was done by my mechanic next door to my work. He swapped the B16 and made a dinky exhaust setup (2" piping with areactive muffler) thatI might redo it if nessesary.

I know increased compression is much better, butwouldI need high comp pistons?

Here's my plan. Skunk2 Stage 2cams,skunk2valvetrain rebuild, 0.4 headgasket, 0.5high comp valves, skunk2 IMand maybe p&p.

with stock compression at 10.2:1, if i add the headgasket and valves, would(my ignorantcalculation) 11.1:1be high enoughcompression for good results? (i know high comp pistons are the best idea, just maybelater when more $$$ roll in)

Again, throw at mewhatever comes to mind positive or negative. Thanks guys.

if you are gonna be putting in some high compression pistons, stage 2 cams and a decent intake/header/exhaust it would be worth it to do a good Port/Polish you will se some decent gains. On a stock motor with a header and intake it really isnt worth it but high reving lots of compression its well worth it.

So here's my revised plan.

Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams. $595
Skunk2 High Performance Valves $315 <---- Are these neccesary?
Skunk2 Valve Springs $240
Skunk2 Titanium Retainers $165
AEM Tru Time Cam Gears $220
Skunk2 Intake Manifold $250
CTR Pistons (about $250?) --->But dont I need to shave my rods?
Possible P&P

So the total cost is about $2000

What management system should I use? Should I goharnessed OBD1 conversion or buya piggy bag one.

you can get away with your stock valves just fine, i would covert to obd1 and run like hondata s100. piggy backs suck, i never liked mine. everything else looks good on the list. dont forget to upgrade exhaust to a 2.25 or 2.5in and get a quality header if you already dont have one

Also, with a good tune (obviously), how much Hp do you estimate i will achieve? Past my goal?.. Can't complain if I do LOL.
