Look into a Mini-Me swap (putting a VTEC y8 head on), then the standard I/H/E, intake mani, throttle body, camshafts, valve springs, retainers, and fuel management, and a good tune. Not necessarily in that order.

forget the head swap right now, the best and I repeat best 2 mods you can do are a 96-00 civic ex transmission and a 99/0 civic ex automatic intake manifold.

im new to modding hondas or hondas in general so what exactley would getting a 96-00 ex transmission and a 99 ex automatic intake manifold do over doing a mini swap

The EX transmission has much shorter gears and is alot funner to drive, it also will shave .5 to .8 seconds off your 1/4 mile time which even if you dont drag race can be felt a good bit. The D16Y7 intake manifold is a bottle neck, the bolt-ons you do like a cold air intake, header, exhaust, cam gear will all be held back by the D16Y7 intake manifold. I suggested a 99/00 automatic ex intake manifold because the D16Y7's have a 3 wire intake air control valve, the 96-00 5 speed ex's and 96-98 ex automatics have a 2 wire intake air control valve. It boils down to the 99/00 ex intake manifold is a direct swap and you do not need to do any extra wiring or custom work.

The complete mini-me will net you around 25hp for around $300

RE: D series power

also you should be able to find a transmission for around that same price so $600 total, I have seen a full second be pulled of 1/4 mile times doing this
