I have a d16zc and on the head near the intake it has a spot where the vtec would be on a z6 but the head has a metal plate over it. Do all zc heads have this or is this a vtec head? I looked for the head code but could not find it. I am planning a mini me swap but I still have to buy the ecu and head gasket and timing belt.

The vtec? Do you mean the vtec selenoid? Your head has a metal plate over it?? Valve Cover? lol

 

I mean where the vtec would bolt on the head, there is no solenoid just a plate bolted over the opening where the vtec would be.

 

You talking, if your looking at the head from the front of the car, the very back left corner?

 

Yep that is where I am talking about, to the left of the intake. The motor says D16ZC right on it. I do not know why the guy put a zc in a 93 car when he could have put a z6 in it. I looked on fleabay for zc heads to see a pic. and I did not see this on those heads.

 

That is where the solenoid is located. Are you thinking of converting it to VTEC? For sure you're going to need that solenoid & the rockers for that, cam and computer. Maybe more...

 

I am going to do a mini me swap. I have another vtec head with the solenoid. This plate looks almost like a thermostat housing block off plate but it is on the back of the head. The vtec on my other motor z6 looks longer than this plate on the zc head. I am just trying to find out what this is on the head. I will try to get a pic. sometime.
