Default Db15B2 swaps? new guy here...

just picked up a cheap 91 civic hatchback, standard model, with the 1.5 liter....good for the gas mileage now, but i've been searching around for the list of motors which are clean fits in this model car, with no major welding, or mounts in different places...or maybe turbo applications for my stock motor? from what I found the B16A motor is a straight swap, but what vehicles came with this motor?? what I am really looking for are some good websites with step by step info and PICTURES hehe, i like pictures, I am pretty familiar with engines in general, but not hondas...thanks guys

all single cam 88-00 motors will fit in your car with minor modifications to sensors. if you intend to stay single cam there are 2 things you need to do other than getting another motor(if you want another one)
1-mpfi conversion
2-si transmission
mpfi conversion will net you better throttle response, better gas milage(so ive noticed), and slightly more power. the std tranny is not nearly as bad as the crx hf but shares the same 1-4 gear set with the dx 3.8 final drive. any dohc vtec engine requires some minor fabrication to your frame workings along with some re-wiring. the b18a/b requires the same frame mods with less wiring dependant on the year motor.

or you can drop an h22 [sm=badbadbad.gif] but thats alot of work lol. i suggest you go for the ls(or ls v-tec),b20 or the b16 cause those are good motor for the civic.

Actually, 4G's don't require frame mods for B series swaps... the only additional things you NEED are axles, shift linkage, and motor mounts.

EDIT: Meant to say 5G's.

^^ 4g requires a hammer to make room for the alternator with a b series swap. also the front transmission mount(on frame) needs to either be beaten flat or cut off as it will not clear your transmission(dependant on mount kit)

Oh crap, my bad!!! I ****ed up big time. In my first post, I said 4G's don't require frame mods, but I meant to say 5G's. You're right about 4G's. I just noticed that when I asked you about whether you had done them in 4G's, since I didn't have any problems when I did 5G swaps. SORRY...
