Default Distributor

Well, looks like I need a new distributor... My distributor was misfiring and going all crazy, and my mechanic suggested me getting a one new..

I found this one http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...18&ptset=A

Thats a decent price, but is there anything better for a lower price?

missfire.........do you have a tach? and if so does it bounce around like crazy? if so you may be able to get away with replacing the ignitor box in the distributor.......

Nope, tach doesn't jump. =/

Also, my mechanic said something about the rotors are just slipping.. or something like that.

Because you can get the car working after its cooled down.. probably get a good minute or two out of it. We were driving it home, and it seems that sometimes it would catch and go fine, then another 5 seconds later it starts acting up..

hmmmmmmn.........you know, the main relay when going out does this..

1-works fine when its cool but once heated up it can cause missfires, hard starting, poor gas milage, loss of power.

it would be worth the effort to remove your main relay, take the cover off, and resolder all the solder joints on the board. this is a typical problem along with the ignitor box. basically what happens is the solder joints loose contact and cause your car to run lean and in turn causes a lean miss fire.

Interesting, I'll see about that...

But this distributor is from a car that had a blown engine.. Is it worth getting a new one, or trying the main relay?
