Does The ZC Vtec = D16Z6?
 
My Engine is starting to give with all the recent head problems and me driving it about 600 miles a week having problmes starting it ive been to the local engine places where they sell jap engines and when i asked for the d16z6 they told me the zc was it in (jdm) im new to the import scene so i dont know anything they showed me the engine it was a ZC and had the Vtec valve cover and all that i want to know is this the same engine and putting in all my components will it pass smog

It's not the same, but it'll work. Some of the brackets are different, and off the top of my head, I think it either has one more or one less sensor. Also, being from Japan, it packs a bit more punch. And yes, it will pass smog.

Well, if I recall, the jdm power steering bracket doesn't fit the USDM pump or something like that (and I think the A/C bracket too, if you have it). All the bracket bolt holes on the block are the same, so you just have to switch them. The best thing to do is just swap all your original brackets onto the ZC. That will make sure everything works.

ok a few more questions which do you think would be the better swap the Zc or the original what i have now im really considering the zc and if i go with it would i have to swap my distributor in there? also is the water pump and timing belt the same as the D16Z6?

Basically all i wanna know is are the ZC parts the same as the D16z6 such as water pump timing belt spark plugs

F**k. Sorry about that. I wasn't thinking. I've only done DOHC ZC swaps in my 4Gs, so that's what I'm used to working with. I'll try to find the SOHC list. I think some are the same though.
