DOHC - Dual overhead cam SOHC - Single overhead cam.
the DOHC has two camshafts, the SOHC only has one
ok so what do that dual and singles mean?...and will i gain alot of horsepower from that engine?...cause i saw a turbo integra have that and it was freking very quick...i dunno if it was the engine...
in a nutshell...
S ingle O ver H ead C amshaft
D ual O ver H ead C amshaft
SOHC has one cam above the cylinders controlling both sets of intake and
exhaust valves. While DOHC has one camshaft for intake valves and one for
exhaust valves.
As you can imagine it's harder mechanically to use one camshafts to control
all valves precisely. By having two camshafts, one for intake and one for
exhaust valves, you can fine tune valve control (more power)

Hey man welcome to the forum. Oh by the way.........forty is right about the VTEC......and u mite wanna change ur signature. Because the motors u are talking about ARENT V4's.......theyre I4's. Inline 4 cylender.
If you want to go turbo in the future, the B16, or B18C1, are probably youre best bet (lower compression), but for an N/A car, B18C5 is where its at. The only problem is, the B18C1 will probably be about 3500 bucks, and the B18C5 something like 4500. B16s will run a lot less though.
but whats the horsepower for the B18C1...and can i install a Twin-Turbo?...and NOS and everything?...and as soon as i get this job i want...3500 wont be a problem...that is if its brand new...used with about 60k miles on it will be lower price?...help me out here...lol
...and is it V-TEK or DOHC or something?
