Default engine type

hey guys.. figured i would get a better response in here then the introduction forum.. umm i am trying to figure out what engine type i have.. i just bought a 98 honda civic si(canadian) which i believe is an ex in america? its SOHC, 5-speed manual. i was told by the dealer that it was vtec but after inspecting it myself it does not say anywhere that it is.. does anyone know what engine type this is.. or is there somewhere i can look to find out?

hey another question.. since it is vtec should i feel/hear anything with that model? there is no vtec sounding noise at higher rpm.. but there is a grinding noise at higher rpm that does not sound good.. could that be something wrong with it?
