engine upgrades

Default engine upgrades

So, I am looking into buying a car. Its a 1993 honda civic and I need to know if its street legal to have a 1998 v tech engine in this car? Any one know? Its a 5 speed.

VTEC*, but yeah it should be legal, its usually just illegal to swap older engines into cars (due to emissions)

If it's installed properly, with the correct ecu and all other components, you should have no trouble.

by her name, i'm guessing his probably from oakland CA.

It shouldn't be illegal since you have a newer engine on an older car. But then again you might have some trouble registring the car, since you need to provide proof of where you bought the engine and that it's not a stolen engine. (that's if you live in CA)

Take it for a smog check before buying and make sure they pass it as it is.

Out of curiosity, why are you swapping engines? Is at a personal preference or just a blown engine and that happens to be the cheapest fix? If you want to swap to gain power, I would reccomend spending a little extra and getting something a little more powerful.

I am considering buying it. The guy that has it now swaped it out and I was wrong before about what it was. It's a 1998 vech ex.
