free engine upgrades?

Default free engine upgrades?

hey guys I have a stock 99 civic 4 door Lx and no cash, basicly my question is are their any engine mods I can do to make my car faster with out spending alot of money E.G. drilling out something. thanks guys.

Umm, well you could squeeze a few horses by retarding the timing. But youd have to run premium gas.

I actuly dont pay 4 my own gass cuz i deliver pizza so how do i do that?

Advancing the timing would be the trick. And I would advice against it.

Wthout spending alot of money hmm.

Seafoam your car. And run Synthetic Oil.

ok well say I have a little to spend 150 maby what can I do to increase low speed acceleration lets say 0-40... is their any work I can have done at a auto center or sumtin are their any mods they can do?

strip the car of unecessary weight, lose a few lbs yourself, run maybe a degree or 2 of advanced timing(which you wont notice the difference anyways), jack your rear tire pressure up. your biggest issues with acceleration is weight and tq. since honda engines dont produce much tq your only option with limited funds really is dropping weight and reducing rolling resistance. also running a smaller diameter tire will allow you to accel quicker by effectivly lowering your final drive ratio.

^^agreed.... but why do you want to only accel faster to 40? for 150... cold air intake will give you a couple of hp and also save you like 1lb and give you better fuel economy.

the reason i want faster 0-40 is cuz i live in the burbs and like theirs alot of traffic and say i want to pull out of some ware but theirs a small time frame to do it i want to be able to be out of their and to 40 fast.
