H22 vs K20

RE: H22 vs K20
The K20 is a great motor this is true it has more power out of the box (but not much) Responds better to mods (but the cost more) and you can keep your a/c (In Florida a big deal) Only thing is it cost 2 to 3 times more for the motor. The swap is a pain in the @$$ to do and the fact the it runs just as fast as the H22 in a quarter after doing the same mods and just tweeking the computer on the H22 to compansate for the wieght of the motor I have to say spend a few thousand more and run the same times the H22 is the only right answer. I have both motors in two diff. cars and I have found out that the K20 is a track motor and the H22 is a strip motor! I can run and easy 10.5 with my H22 but the K20 is only a 10.9 with all the same mods. They are both great motors it is just up to what you want out of them track or strip!!!!!!!!!!

RE: H22 vs K20
my friend has k20 in 92 civic. dyno'd 200hp. with nothing done to it yet. yet my other friend has GSR engine and has custim tranny and basic bolt ons. and the k20 beat it. on the other hand, the h22 puts 200-220 hp with nothing done to it yet. plus more torque. i am a h22 fan. but id only use it for drag.

RE: H22 vs K20
Glad to see there is a little bit of an agreement here! The GSR motor is a great motor to build as well because you can keep things like the a/c and power steering and if you turbo it you will out run alot of cars out there but then again y not do an LS vtec wich has much more potential

RE: H22 vs K20
ummm... its your car and your call.
K20=less weight, more street cred, more money
H22- more weight, less cred, less cash.
Decide what matters to you and do it.
I'll be putting an H into my EJ8 as soon as I have something else to drive while it is out of commission.
