H22A vs B18C Type R
I purchased '97 Civic EX no more than a few weeks ago, and considering dropping a new engine within a month or so and was comparing these two engines, and wanted to possibly see some input from you guys to see if one has an edge over the other.

^You're either joking, completely new to hondas/cars in general, or a troll.^
Anyway, if you take the cost/hp ratio into account, the H22 will come out on top. The H22 is pretty much a torque monster as far as N/A I4's go, and it'll be about the cost of a GSR swap. Don't fall victim to the weight argument, either; the advocates of that have no facts to back it up. The H22 weighs little more than a B16a (which in turn is barely heavier than a D16), and the weight is dead-center over the drive axles. If you'd swap in a B16a and turbo it, you'd have a heavier engine with more weight on the nose: exactly where you don't want it. The swap isn't technical, either; it just has more steps than most B-series swaps.
Also, take swap legality into account. I'm not sure what Cali's swap/emissions laws are, but I know the engine must be no older than the car it's going in, and I have a feeling finding a '97+ USDM H22 will be a bit easier to find than a B18C or a B18C5.
