Default Hey

Like i stated in the newbie section, im planning to buy a 97 hatch, i believe it have a 1.6 non-vtec engine w/ 120k+ miles on it. My friend is suggesting me to swap the engine with a i thnk b16 dohc something engine that's worth 2500 + 750 for labor.

Do you thnk it's worth it? Or should i just fix the stock engine and replace the timing belts and everything?

Thanks!

well, it depends... do you want to build up your motor later on? You'll probablyget more power with the B16... D-series motors are notoriously difficult to raise the power in (unless you go turbo)

Really, the only difference (thatI know of) in the motors is the dohc vs sohc thing

Well it will be my daily driver to work and school, im not really going heavy on mods, just wheels and intake only i guess, the reason i want to swap engines cuz im scared that the motor w/ 120K miles will eventually die off. Im not really a speed freak, im more on the realiability side. You know where im gettin at?

if u got the cash Iwould def. do a b swap (more power and the sweet sound of vtec).

if well maintained a honda engine will last into the 200K range.

If you aren't going to be modding it, then it stands to reason that you don't care how fast it is. Leave it alone. 120k is just getting broken in for a Honda.

ps- Reaper, you just made my sig.

Is thata good thing or a bad thing? lol

Anyway, with the B16, you'll hear the vtec crossover... it's really hard to hear on a D series

Well i still want a little kick out of it though And i never had a honda before and i really want to hear the VTEC vROOM. And 120k miles is a bit on the breaking down of an engine, regardless if it is a honda or not. I just feel i little safer seeing lower mileage in my imaginary car

Edit: Dude is that your daughter with the cams? LOL talented isnt she
