how to break in a rebuilt LS in a bubble hatch?
i think forty04 posted something on this about a year ago, an article on breaking in new engines on a dyno... theory being that with the new tech motors, dont baby it.. but instead rev that sucker up and get the rings to seat etc. and DONT use synthetic at first.. it lubricates to good and wont allow the parts to wear when you want them to.
i have personally never went through a break in period on a fresh motor. well sorta, on my personal engines i usually let it come to operating temp and then cutt it off and look for leaks. then once its cooled down i let it sit and idle for 30 min and then take it out and drive it like i normally drive, which sometimes consists of beating the hell outta it.
then you get where im commin from on this... todays engines are different,, in the old days cylinder walls were not polished smooth, so you had to be easy on the breakin.. todays motors, you only have a short time to get the cylinder and rings to wear before they are well .. ah hell, lost my thought... bottom line, if you dont work it soon, youre doing more harm than good...
where's forty when i need him, he knows what i mean..
