What do I need to know in terms of engine specifications before I go ahead and purchase a new engine for my civic? Once I've found the "right" engine, what are the most important things I need to replace while I'm putting it in? I realize I have to figure out how much torque/hp I want, etc., but I don't really know where to begin besides that. I really want to do this myself. Fortunately, I have a friend who is a car mechanic and another friend who is certified but is not one. So, I will have help if I need it in terms of the actual manual labor. Thanks.

 

Well you can figure out what engine fits by researching it pretty much any engine provided the right mounts will work and depending on how much money you with to spend as well....The most important things I can think of is the water pump and the timing belt are the most inportant things i can think of sicne they are quite hard to get to when the engine goes in.....and I would just check everything before placing it in sicne why crawl on your back when you can do it standing/sitting up. That is a start right there I am beggining my engine rebuild after doing extensive work in the research department if you do your research you will not be left with any headaces in the end due to something you overlooked.....

so use the search part of this forum google/yahoo/webferret some search engine etc and get some notes down compare and stuff like that and see whats best for you and once you do that it wont be easy street but it will be less difficult lets say. Hope this helps

 

well what engine would lookin at??ur ride will pretty muchfitthe k20, d series and all b series and even h seires will fit in there but of course some will require more work than others good luck
