Post I need engine help...

Okay I have a Honda Civic 1995 DX Coupe. The only thing done to the motor is, air intake, headers, and exhaust. ( yeah nothing big ) Everyone is saying to make it faster and what not. It's a 1.5 stock motor. ( thats really all I know ) I don't know to much...i heard a b16 is better then a b18? So should I go with the b16 swap or is there a wiser choice to do...Any swap I do, done the road I would defiantly want to boost it.... please help thanks.

Which B16 and which B18? We're going to need specific engines to tell you which is better.
For example, a B16A2 is better than a B18B1... but a B18C1 is better than a B16A2

what i was asking is: why are you choosing the B16 over the B18 already when you don't know that much about the differences between them? What is the reasoning behind your choice to get a B16 over a B18?
A GSR engine (B18C1 - 170hp) has 12hp more than a B16A2 (158hp - B16A2 is the most common B16). This fact makes your choice to get the B16 make no sense besides maybe price and availability - but i don't think you looked those facts up)

not exactly. you would expect all B18's to be more powerful than B16's because of displacement, but you have to remember the magic we call VTEC. LOL. A B16 with VTEC is going to have more power than a B18 non-VTEC (for example, the engine from an Integra LS).

If you can afford it, i'd say get the B18C1 (Integra GSR engine). If you can afford it and find one I say get the B18C5 (ITR (Integra Type R) engine) or the B18B (CTR (Civic Type R) engine). Otherwise i'd say go with the B16A, B16A1, or B16A2 (all 3 are about the same). The B16s are cheaper and easier to find.

I was never saying before that a B16 was bad, I just wanted you to understand that some of the B18s are better than it, since many people just hear everyone say get a B16 and then they get one without knowing why they got it.
