Default JDM H22A or B16?

I cant seem to decide what swap to look into. I don't want the B18 because the only one that is as fast is a GSR or a Type-R and they are too expensive for me.
I have a 95 civic hatchback, with a d15b and a 14b turbo. I would be getting the swap done professionally. These are the two engines I'm looking at:
Here's the B16.
http://www.japanpowerinc.com/engines.php?brand=honda&id=B16A_G2#spec
So this engine has 170HP and 116lbs-ft@5200rpmand 10.4:1 compression

http://www.japanpowerinc.com/engines.php?brand=honda&id=H22A#spec
This one has 200HP and 161lbs-ft@5500rpmand 10.6:! Compression

They are both 1990.00 USD. Why are they the same price if one has an extra 30HP and extra 45lbs-ft of torque?
Which would be cheaper to get swapped, and which would run better turbo'd?

They're the same price because H22's are a pain in the 4ss to swap, whereas B16's are literally drop-in swaps; no modification needed. I'm thinking the install charge will be a lot higher with an H22, and you'll have to ditch the A/C if you have it (major territorial dispute between the H22 header and a Civic's A/C fan).

But from what I've heard, the H22 is an absolute monster. And trust me, 30hp and 45 ft/lbs of torque is a big difference, especially when the car in question weighs only slightly over a ton.

Unfortunately, the H22 is significantly heavier than your stock d15, or the B16, for that matter. That means that without uncomfortably stiff springs up front, your car will be very tight (tight as in the car doesn't turn worth a d4mn).

Basically, the B16 will be a quicker, easier swap, wheras the H22 will take a while and be pretty hard, but net you more power if you stay N/A.

Personally, between the two, I'd pick a B16 and then turbo it; you'll make way more power than a b16, and you'll retain the stock handling characteristics.

na torque motors rock, and it won't effect your handling that much. Doesn't way much more than apassenger

go with the b16. its a lot easier of a swap, and even though the swap price is the same when its all said and done the h22 will cost more.

The only way I would say get the h22 is if you were only going to be racing it on the strip and didn't care about handling. The b16 will be very quick and will also allow your car to be more agile because the engine is lighter. if you want more power you can turbo it and make it very fast like reaper said

The H22 is no harder to swap with a H2B adapter plate(use a B series transmission and adapter plate)

The H engine you dont want to boost, I cant remember what the sleeves are made from, but its some sort of mesh material or something. Anyway they dont like boost, Iv even heard some people say that tossing in aftermarket pistons if scetchy, but I dont know for sure on that one. The b16 is the "torqueless wonder" and junk for the price you pay.

if you sleeve them they make 1000+ hp very easily though^^^. I dont know what everybodys facination is with a B16. I would do a h22 with the H2B adapter and run an lsd equipted b16 or b18c5 trannsmission

it's nice to know, somethings never change around here.

the h22a pwnz b16s and b18s, short of a type R engine, and their only slightly heavier than a b18c engine.

by your h22a from street imports and they'll provide everything you need in one package, including new motor mounts and header. pay $500 more and they'll throw in a LSD transmission...

From what i know the H22a will be a bit*h once its in. Also you cant drop the car and i know people that have had problems turning and with very uncomfortable rides. Go wit the B16....sometimes bigger isnt always better

I think this whole h22a=crap handling is such a joke. There is a guy on this forum with an h22a hatch, where is he? Lets ask him. Second, you CAN lower your car with an h22a in there. My sister has a d16z6 and Iv driven a few b16's they feel the same under about 4k rpm
