Default Leaking water pump

I juust got my car back from the shop today and they said my water pump is leaking antifreeze, but its gonna be about $500 to fix it. Its not leaking too much and my engine isnt over heating but it is hot. I dont really have $500 now and dont really wanna spend it on it so im justn wondering how important it is to fix it right away and also how easy it would be to change myself.

The most difficult part of the job is re-installing the (new) timing belt EXACTLY as you removed it. Study the service manual carefully prior to starting the job and consult the forum often when you have questions. Also, don't break off any of those water pump bolts - they require very little torque.

Well I have a haynes book for 5th gen civics but the engine was swapped so now it has an 89' acura integra engine in it so I may have to find an acura one online. And is it for someone whos pretty new to cars, or most likely too difficult?

It will be a challenging job for someone without much experience; however, by doing your homework and having/obtaining the necessary tools, the challenge can be overcome.

I know that because my engine is DOHC it means doing the timing belt is alot more complicated and would have to rent the tool from like Autozone or something like that.
