Default Motor Mounts?

What is the exact purpose of putting aftermarket motor mounts on your engine? When you are not swapping the engine, it is still the same engine that came in the car but you just replace to mounts. Just wondering what this does

It stops wheel hop on launchs and lets the engine move less giving it quicker response

You can also buy mount inserts, I'd say hasport has something along with energy suspensions

This probably sounds silly, but I think I get wheel hop from driving a stock D15B7 when I floor it.

How difficult it is to install Energy Suspension motor mount parts? I've never really looked at the motor mounts. Is it as simple as bolting and unbolting nuts?

No some mount inserts you have to have pressed in with a hydrolic press but if you are changing the whole mount than IMO it is easy.

So Marty, do the stock ones slide out, or are they likely to end up being little bitches like the ones I'm pulling out of my LCA's right now?

Basically, is it going to be hard to get the stockers out?

IMO it would be easier to replace the whole mount instead of just replacing the guts. They are pain in the a** to replace. you need to do one side at a time. leave them lose when you install them to get them all in. Then tighten when all installed.

I don't think that its worth it to get performance motor mounts. They cost like $400 and won't give you too much better times on your 1/4 mile. If you've done everything else, then the motor mounts are a good way to get the last tenths of a second out.
