N/A help

I have an intake headers & exhaust car. I dont really have the cash to go big on a turbo. I'd only be able to run like 6 lbs of boost with my motor as is. Does any one have any ideas or thigs they've done to gain some extra hp here and there?

Nothing except at least 2-3 grand is going to get you a lot more ponies. Quality turbo all the way. Don't get an ebay kit.

Two questions.

1) What car do you have (year and sub-model)?
2) How much are you looking to spend?

'97 EX, looking to spend a couple hundred.
Any opinions on intsalling bigger throttle bodies and intake manifolds?

Anyone peice together thier own turbo kit and know about how much it costs?

Search the forum. You can't do it for a couple hundred.

if you dont want to boost the thing, throw a suspension on there, get some nice wheels, and ride that thing, it will be plenty fun.

yeah I put some eibacs on it this past fall

Well, for a couple hundred, you might be able to swap out your cam with something with a little bit more of an aggressive profile. It'll gain you some power right off the line, and it'll increase the gain you'll get from other mods (ie, intake, throttle body, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, exhaust). Just be aware a larger, more aggressive, cam will most likely shift your power-band higher in the rev range, sometimes past the stock rev-limit. To maintain reliability, you'll want stronger valve springs to avoid valve float. All said and done, you're looking at around $600-$700 for the cam and supporting mods.

And a bare-bones turbo setup can be pieced together for anywhere from around $2,000 and up; it all depends on your power goals and what you want out of the setup.

if u add cam(s), expect to sacrifice some driveability. my engine is garbage @ idle. i think intake manifold and throttle body is a good idea. shouldnt really cause any undesireable stress on ur engine, but dont expect a night and day difference in acceleration either...
